About John Thomas III

John is a member of St. John AME Church in Nashville, TN and has affiliated with congregations in the 6th, 1st and 4th Episcopal Districts. In the AME Church, John has served in various capacities at all levels of the Connection in the YPD as well as the Lay Organization and was elected in 2009 as the Young Adult Representative of the Connectional Lay Organization. He also served as a WMS Sojourner to the Dominican Republic in 2002 and 2010. He is one of the Spanish translators for the 16th Episcopal District and has translated several documents in Portuguese for the 15th Episcopal District. He is currently serving his term on the General Board of the African Methodist Episcopal Church In 2011, John was elected to serve as the Coordinator of Youth and Young Adults for the World Methodist Council and is responsible for the establishing programming and maintaining links between Youth and Young Adult organizations in over 75 denominations in the Methodist/Wesleyan tradition worldwide.

  1. LaKesha, I was so glad to hear this topic. Even though I am not in your denomination, your discussion is relevant to anyone in ministry who has a focus on young adults. In 2014, I’ll be entering into an intiative to raise awareness about dating violence within the Atlanta community. I am in research phase right now, and this kind of info is so helpful for me.
