What’s happening at Pure Artistry Literary Cafe?

When I was a teen, I could not wait to go to the 21 and over parties…

Once I passed 21, I wanted to be in the 25 and over/ grown and sexy parties…

Now, I’m older and look for something more when I go out (maybe because as a single mom, I don’t go out very often)…

Last year, I discovered a treasure in Montgomery, AL – Pure Artistry Literary Cafe

PALit Cafe is the brainchild of Monique Dennis.  The establishment is a performing arts venue that features spoken word performances, workshops for writers and  many other events that allow up and coming performers to showcase their talents.  Monique, my guest today on The LaKesha Womack Show, will be sharing her inspiration for establishing the venue, some of it’s exciting upcoming events and a few tips for those wanting a break in the performing arts industry.

Listen live on Wednesday, April 11 at 12p CST – http://blogtalkradio.com/LaKeshaWomack

Meet Monique…

Originally from Montgomery, AL, Monique got her start in performing arts at Carver Creative & Performing Arts Center (CCPAC).  She is a graduate of Alabama A&M University, with a major in Computer Science Specializing in Software Development.  As time passed her love for the arts transitioned into a passion for culinary arts.  As a result of her love for culinary arts, she graduated from Orlando Culinary Academy’s Le Cordon Bleu program.

While living in Orlando, Monique utilized her talents in both fields, as a software engineer for Lockheed Martin at Kennedy Space Center, in the pastry kitchen at Gaylord Palms Resort, as the breakfast chef at UCF Radisson, and as a volunteer with People’s Theatre, Inc. Her interactions with amateur & professional cast & crew members on a number of productions renewed her love for theatre & other performing arts.

After relocating back to Montgomery, Monique realized there was a lack of arts entertainment in the community.  Partnering with her mother to improve the existing arts entertainment community, the idea of Pure Artistry Literary Café was born.  Pure Artistry is a POSITIVE  environment for POSITIVE people & events.  From classes & events to workshops & shows, Pure Artistry seeks to encourage the growth of the arts community.

Pure Artistry Literary Cafe is located at 142 West Jefferson Street in Montgomery AL.  To purchase tickets for upcoming events, subscribe to their newsletter or get information about past events, visit their website http://www.palitcafe.com
