There is so much information and misinformation going around, it sometimes becomes difficult to filter out the white noise that distracts us from living toward our purpose in life. Many people are so consumed with looking rich that they have forsaken figuring out how to be wealthy. Others want to know every detail of a celebrity’s relationship while their own house is in shambles.
I encourage you to be informed in your life.
Be informed about your health. Doctors see so many patients in a given day and it is possible for them to make a mistake. If you have an illness, do some research so that during your visit you can have an intelligent conversation and ask questions about the stuff that you need to know. Your physician will take you and your case more seriously if they see that you are informed and seeking answers to specific questions. Also research your medications to be sure you understand the possible side effects and potential long-term effects. Don’t just take the blue pill because someone said so.
Be informed about your relationships. Lately while watching a bevy of “Housewives” type shows, I have been thinking that the problems some of these women were facing seemed pretty evident yet many of them were so caught up in their friend’s drama that they were missing the writing on the wall in regards to their own situation. Don’t focus so much on what other people are doing until you can’t see what is before your eyes. Also, be careful not to idolize television relationships because you are only seeing a snippet of their lives. Celebrities have problems just like the rest of us.
Be informed about your finances. Some women place a higher premium on their shoes and hand bags than their retirement accounts while some men are trying so hard to floss that they can barely afford furniture in their place. Get your financial priorities in order. Don’t worry about being rich, having a little money in the bank; create a strategy to become wealthy, having finances that will last for generations in your family.
Be informed about politics. We are at a crucial point in our society where there is truly a class warfare being waged against middle class America and if we don’t stand up and fight for our rights, like many of you attempted to do during the Troy Davis execution, we will find our selves and those around us losing more battles to the political system. Make you are registered to vote and vote in EVERY election, not just the presidential election. Protesting and social media posting is great but your voice is your vote.
If you want to #win in life, you have to know the rules of the game… be informed.
