Founder and Owner of “Enjoy Yourself Events”, Elaina M. Whitley created the “Event Planning 101 Certificate Workshop” in 2007 in Atlanta. The workshop quickly became popular via word of mouth amongst aspiring event professionals and small business owners.  A couple of years later, Ms. Whitley’s twitter follower’s dubbed the class “EP 101” due to the limitation of 140 characters allowed per tweet.  Ms. Whitley is known for providing loads of useful information to attendees including the step-by-step process on how to start your own business. In 2010, due to popular demand via social media, Ms. Whitley launched “EP 101 On Tour”, which is scheduled to travel across the country as well as a few Caribbean Islands.

“EP 101 On Tour” will kick off in Charlotte, NC – April 2nd at Country Inn & Suites – 2541 Little Rock Road, followed by Columbia, SC -April 3rd at Country Inn & Suites – 414 Piney Grove Blvd.  The workshop takes place from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. and will cover:  furthering your education in the event industry,  how to compose contracts and proposals, effectively marketing your business and events to your target audience, how to acquire sponsorship and much more.

“EP 101” is targeted towards aspiring and current event professionals as well as small business owners. Previous attendees have included: aspiring wedding planners, aspiring event planners, business owners, church organizations, caterers, event designers, brides-to-be, personal assistants as well as other professionals. Workshops are limited to a maximum of 20 attendees per day to allow more hands-on-training throughout the course.  Attendees will leave with the basic knowledge on how to plan a birthday party, baby shower, wedding, meeting, cocktail reception, family reunion, fundraiser and galas.  Aspiring business owners will walk away eager to get started with entrepreneurship.

Event Planning is a relatively new career field but it is also one of the most sought after careers. Training is not always a prerequisite, however training will come in handy when it comes time to deal with the pressures, timelines, long hours on the job and sufficiently coordinating and managing a successful event.  Obtaining a certificate in event planning can result in careers such as: Personal Assistant, Executive Assistant, Concierge, Meeting Planner, Event Planner, Wedding Planner as well as other professional titles.
