Success Secret #40

I know that I am usually talking about life being about forward motion but just as it goes with everything else in life, there is an exception to the rule.

Success secret #40… sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward.  This is another one of those hard lessons because we often get so caught up in where we are going that we don’t like to stop and often feel discouraged when we have been set back.  One of good friends once told me that “a set back is a set up for a come back.”  I really like that phrase because it reminds that just because I get knocked down doesn’t mean that I am destined to stay down.  It is up to me to take advantage of the lesson to be learned from that situation and use it to help me move forward.

One excellent example is the number of people who have recently been laid off or lost their jobs.  Many of those persons were not living their passions rather working to earn a paycheck.  In some areas, the companies that were releasing employees were also making available to them opportunities to go or go back to school.  Other persons took advantage of their “free time” to begin working on going into business for themselves.  Obviously, many more sat at home stuck in their circumstance, blaming others and wishing for something different.

On almost a daily basis you will suffer minor set backs.  Sometimes these obstacles are in your best interest because they allow you to reflect on whether you should be doing the thing that you were about to do.  Everything in life can be viewed positively or negatively.  Sometimes taking two steps forward and one step backward isn’t a bad thing but it allows to take a look at the big picture of your decisions and make a better decision about where you are headed.
