Success Secret #12

You have a choice!

It is so refreshing to live in a country with the freedom of choice.  Granted there are behaviors and indulgences that are off-limits legally and morally but at each turn in your life, you can choose whether to buck the system or to stay on track.

I was reminded of this illustrious freedom when speaking with someone about the future of a project.  It seems that there are those around us that choose to stagnate the growth of our community while others work tirelessly to move forward.  Some of the work on both sides is done out in the open and some work is done behind closed doors.  I think that it is great to have people who feel so passionately about their vision that they dedicate so much effort to support their cause.  It doesn’t matter which side of the fence that you choose to labor, you have a choice.

I would like to encourage you in your pursuits to take your decision-making process a step further and consider who is being affected by your choices – it may be your family members, your church members, your employees and co-workers or even your community as a whole.  Remember, life is about much more than our small part of the fence.  As Maximus said in the movie Gladiator, “What we do in life echoes into eternity.”  How will history recount your choices?

Success secret #12…  you are either a part of the problem or a part of the solution.  Don’t spend time whining about what is wrong with a situation or boasting about what is going well.  Continue to do the work and the results will come, whether positive or negative, because of the choices you make each day.
